What’s the most dominant thing in the valley in April? Yellow. The sun, of course, that yellow-green tone of new leaves unfurling, but of all the wildflowers it is the yellow ones which are everywhere… mostly charlock [which in Spanish translates to ‘plant of the campos/countryside’], others I find impossible to identify, and our own winter-flowering jasmine. Spring is my favourite of the seasons here, every day brings something new.
