Almonds are good for you, they are an excellent source of vitamin E, calcium, phosphorous, iron and magnesium and also contain zinc, selenium, copper and niacin. They are my favourite nut, the easiest snack to reach for; in our kitchen sits a large jar of brown-skinned almonds. So it’s just as well that we have loads of almond trees here, of varying ages. At this time of year, the blossom is long gone and the baby almonds are appearing. The fuzzy shells burst from the middle of the dying flower, a beautiful silver green.
