The golden threshing patch

There are touches of pale gold everywhere now, around our valley and the surrounding countryside. The wheat is ripe; some fields remain uncut and seem to shimmer in the wind, other fields are already harvested and are striped boldly like a painting by Van Gogh. A paler white gold comes from the wild oats which are also ripe now. They stand in the verges and around the perimeters of fields, adding a golden fringe to everything. the golden threshing patch - summer 26-6-13Our threshing patch is covered in wild oats, not strictly wild of course but simply oats from a field somewhere which have self-seeded.
