Bamboo grows here wild, beside the river, reaching 20ft tall. All summer it waves languidly back and forth in the warm breeze, the rustling of its leaves add a cutting edge to the sibilant layers of sound in the hot valley.
But in winter, bamboo takes on a different personality. It is black and grey, as if outlined by mascara, and the summer swathes of green and golden silken flowerheads are transformed into silver and umber which move in the wind like swords brandished at the sun.5 to remember
el bambú – the bamboo
muerto – dead
silvestre – wild
el verano – the summer
el invierno – the winter
